Fear of flying into Mexico among those worried about catching the flu in close quarters has prompted one resort to offer a novel welcome.
Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort, is catering to guests choosing to drive down the Baja Peninsula fromCalifornia by doing its cold-towel-and-drink welcome roadside rather than at the Los Cabos airport.
A staffer says “bienvenidos” to arrivals in the town of Todos Santos or on a highway, pours drinks and provides an escort to the resort. Las Ventanas, which caters to Hollywood’s A list and usually is packed, also has lowered rates through Oct. 14 to $515 from $595 a night for its most basic rooms. And it’s tossing in a $200 resort credit, free upgrades and complimentary breakfast for two daily.
