Fear of flying into Mexico among those worried about catching the flu in close quarters has prompted one resort to offer a novel welcome.

Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort, is catering to guests choosing to drive down the Baja Peninsula fromCalifornia by doing its cold-towel-and-drink welcome roadside rather than at the Los Cabos airport.

A staffer says “bienvenidos” to arrivals in the town of Todos Santos or on a highway, pours drinks and provides an escort to the resort. Las Ventanas, which caters to Hollywood’s A list and usually is packed, also has lowered rates through Oct. 14 to $515 from $595 a night for its most basic rooms. And it’s tossing in a $200 resort credit, free upgrades and complimentary breakfast for two daily.

We hope you'll follow our adventure here, on Twitter and on Facebook while you enjoy your coffee (or tea) or drink a Pacifico (if you've already made it here). If the tequila gets passed around the table too much, gringos might try and spell CalyCanto like calicanto, calecanto, or cal y canto. However you spell it, you are always welcome at Calycanto Casitas. Thank you for visiting.
