Grocery Shopping in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur

There are a few places in el centro or just outside of Todos Santos where you can buy groceries (in addition to numerous small stores). There are two “Mercado del Sol” Supermarkets. One is located at the beginning of town (the South side, entering from Cabo) on Degollado (street). The second is on the dirt road that brings you to La Pastora (off of Topete), north of town, on Camino Las Playitas. At Mercado del Sol (I and II) you can find a bit of everything, although the selection is not that great. Mercado Guluarte on Calle Morelos, in the heart of town, is a full service grocery store with a similar selection to Mercado del Sol, plus a fresh meat section. For fresh fruit and vegetables, Botega Lizarraga offers the widest range of produce at very affordable prices, and is a national chain in Mexico. It is located on the corner of Militar and Obregon. On Monday, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm it is possible to buy organic produce from a road-side stand on Colegio Militar, across from a Telcel store. On Camino Las Playitas a sign will direct you to La Jardinera (Dominique), who sells organic lettuce and other fresh vegetables in season. There’s a Pescaderia (fish store), on the corner of Militar and Marquez de Leon with fresh fish and good prices. Alternatively, it is always quite an adventure to drive to Punta Lobos to buy the fresh catch of the day directly from the fishermen as they pull their ‘pangas’ on the beach after the day at sea. Hopefully soon they will clean up some of the waste accumulated next to the panga launch site on what could still be a gorgeous estuary. To reach Punta Lobos, take the first wide dirt road on your right as you exit Todos Santos towards Cabo and drive to the end. A small bakery (Panaderîa de Todos Santos) is located on Calle Rangel, a dirt road off Obregon, and it is open in the afternoon. The bakery sells bread, doughnuts and buns. For those with a sweet tooth, the Dulcerias (sweet shops) at the north end of town, towards La Paz, will satisfy all cravings. A string of colorful shops on the side of the road offer many varieties of local sweets, ice creams, spices and liquors (including the local Damiana).
