Preparing for the Future: Todos Santos, Mexico

Hayden, ID — Todos Santos is a small town on the Pacific side of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico. It has come a long way from being a sleepy fishing village, and is converting to tourism at a fast pace. When funding became available, the town decided to prepare for future growth.
An ambitious plan was formulated: To support sustainable water use in an area with scarce resources, the new wastewater treatment facility would be tasked with providing reuse quality water.
Projects like a planned golf course and other new developments would be irrigated with the reuse water, preserving precious spring water for domestic use.
In order to achieve the desired water quality of <10 mg/L TSS, the engineers turned to Blue Water for their tertiary filtration system. Here it was determined that a continuous backwash sand filter would be best suited for the application.
Last month, Blue Water’s Dave Wilde supervised the startup of this Centra-Flo CF-64 filter system. The installation will provide the community with reliable, low maintenance and low cost-of-ownership tertiary filtration for many years to come.
